Old Deerfield Painting Group

David Sund is a Greenfield native.  His collection of floral portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and architectural images is created using a primary palette and a realist's eye to preserve moments of visual calm in the context of our turbulent world.  Sund writes ,"With my father, I learned to rebuild old buildings and hunt down genealogical data. With my mother, I restored old furniture and learned how to preserve the colors and flavors of the garden, to be enjoyed in winter.  As an artist with New England in my blood, it's second nature for me to use paint to conserve the visual sweetness of our Valley and its embracing hills. I'm content to paint a thing if it is alive with color, has a practical patina, or evokes a sense of history and locality."
